iPhone Application for Your Dog’s Heartworm Prevention

The students of Cornell University just developed an iPhone application for pet owners that can assist them from tracking their cats and dogs diet to reminding the owners on their pets next vaccination schedule including heartworm vaccination and when to take heartworm prevention pills.

The application can be downloaded on iTunes online store for as little as $3.99 and is distributed by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. CUPetHealth, the iPhone application, allows pet owners to track what and how much they feed their cats and dogs. Caregivers simply input the daily diet of their pets and note their pets several lifestyle variables. The application will then take these two factors into calculation in order to determine the appropriate number of calories each day. Once that is calculated, it will respond with “overfeeding”, “underfeeding” or “appropriate”.

The application has pre-installed a ready-made list of food from which the pet owners are able to choose from. Or they also could enter additional food items that has not been included in the list yet. In addition, the app electronically tracks companion animals’ vaccinations, including heartworm, notifying the owner when it’s time to re-vaccinate or administer another heartworm pill.

The application is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Click the image below to go to the application page.
